WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to post longer voice notes as status updates. Here’s what you need to know about this update:
WhatsApp Longer Voice Message Status Feature
According to WABetaInfo, the latest update enables users to share voice notes up to one minute long, an improvement from the previous 30-second limit. This enhancement will allow for more detailed communication in status updates.
The update is being rolled out to both Android and iOS users. We tested the feature on an iOS device, and it works as expected. To access this new feature, update the WhatsApp app on your device. If the update hasn’t reached you yet, don’t worry—it will be available to all users gradually over the coming days.
As shown in the shared screenshots, using this feature is similar to sending personal voice notes. Users can hold the microphone button to start recording and slide to cancel if needed.
Other Upcoming Whatsapp Features
In addition to longer voice notes, WhatsApp is working on several other features. One significant update involves a revamp of profile pictures. Soon, users will be able to create AI-generated profile pictures directly within the app by using a prompt.
Additionally, WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow users to share status updates with a specific group of people, similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature. The release dates for these features have not yet been announced.
